Pasture for Life

<< Previous | Next >>

We are very proud of the meat we sell in our shop especially the lamb, mutton and beef which are all traditionally reared on our farm, grass-fed, dry-aged and butchered locally.

Many years ago we changed the way we reared our livestock with one of the changes being a move to an entirely pasture based diet. However earlier this year we applied to become Pasture for Life certified to give our customers the added reassurance that we produce the highest quality meat here at Ardross.

Grass-fed meat has many benefits for both the animals and our customers.
Pasture-fed meat and milk has:

  • Lower total fat levels
  • Higher levels of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA)
  • Higher vitamin and mineral levels than meat or milk from grain-fed animals

Pasture-fed livestock:

  • Are free to express their normal behaviours
  • Feed on a natural diet of pasture and forage
  • Are healthier with reduced incidence of diseases and use of antibiotics

If you would like to find out more please visit their website:
We have our final inspection in a couple of weeks time so hopefully by the end of the year we will be proudly displaying the Pasture for Life logo on our home produced meat.
